Melvina Shaw

Ezra Crown was born 16 January 1832. He came to Illinois from Zanesville, Ohio.

Melvina Shaw was born 28 May 1842, probably in or near Zanesville.

Ezra and Melvina were married in Zanesville. They had the following children:

Sarah Arnetta Susan Josephine Arthelia

Ezra and Melvina lived around Flora, Illinois. Ezra Crown was a farmer all of his life. Melvina Shaw died 2 April 1874, when Thelia was only three years old. She is possibly buried at Danville, Illinois. There is nothing to suggest Melvina Shaw was related to Jane Shaw of the Purcell line. Melvina had two sisters who lived in Danville, Illinois, Thelia Kalf and Angeline Garner.

Ezra remarried on 4 March 1875, to Mary Jane Fisher. According to Rhea Gragg (Purcell), he went back to Zanesville to get his second wife. Mary Jane had one child already, Mary Jane, born

1-5-1843. Ezra and Mary Jane had three more children:

James Emmah b. 2-1-1876

(or Emmitt)

Walter Lennox b. 7-13-1877

George Shannon b. 1-30-1880

Mary Jane Crown died 5 November, 1889. Ezra Crown moved to Corning, Arkansas, in 1894 or 1895, with his three youngest sons. The picture taken on the next page was taken in 1915. Whether he had moved back to Illinois or was visiting is not known. Ezra Crown died 26 November, 1917. Place of burial is unknown.
