John R. Williams was born 25 December 1855, in Alma, Illinois.

Adeline Nelson was born 15 July 1855 in Alma, and was raised around Alma. Her parents, Kit and Julia Nelson, were reportedly from Farina, Illinois, and may be buried there.

John R. Williams spent most of his life as a farmer. His brother, Sam Williams, was a barber who taught Bill Doolen the barbering trade.

John and Adeline had six children:

Adeline died 18 September, 1894. John R. Williams was married again, name unknown. He died 23 July 1934, after suffering injuries in an auto accident near Decatur, Illinois. Both are buried at the Martin Cemetery.
